Job SummaryResponsible for operating and maintaining laboratory equipment and for accurately recording results of tests within the assigned laboratory.Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssists in the design, construction use of special test fixtures and apparatuses under supervision.Performs tests and experiments under supervision.Accurately records results of tests within the assigned laboratory notebook.Uses computerized data acquisition and control systemsAssists Research Engineers and Technicians and has a significant personal contact with others in the Research Department, as well as with other Departments.Expected Areas of CompetenceDemonstrated ability to independently perform all necessary routine lab procedures in a timely manner.Ability to operate sophisticated test machines, which may include mechanical fatigue machines.Detail oriented and analytical.Ability to understand the reasonableness of the results.Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.Able to work with minimum supervision.Ability to work in a team environment and build relationship with other areas of the organization.Ability to use a calculator and perform reliable calculations.Ability to keep and record accurate and legible data.Ability to work with small hand tools.Ability to transport items in the 30-pound range.Experience using personal computers and working knowledge of Windows.Education/Experience RequirementsMust have previous experience as a lab technician Min. 1 year.Must have a general science background including basic math, algebra, chemistry and physics (depending upon laboratory assignment).Travel Requirements> 5%Additional InformationEOE/M/W/Vet/DisabilityVEVRAA Federal ContractorEqual Opportunity Employerminorities/females/veterans/individuals with disabilities/sexual orientation/gender identity
