Our Principal Systems Engineer, Enabling Technology R&D will work on connectivity for pre-operative surgical planning tools and intra-operative tools for orthopaedic surgery from the development phase through commercial release.
Key Responsibilities:
Enable the product development teams to define, design and deliver a set of elite production-grade healthcare products
Develop, align and convey an inspiring vision of the target architecture integrating all products and services of our digital ecosystem, customer and non-customer facing
Create and execute short- and mid-term strategies to map and execute the building blocks towards the target architecture
Promote, sustain and improve developer productivity by driving decisions that improve ownership, communication and momentum across development teams
Support the teams in acquiring the required capabilities for autonomously driving excellent decisions on any technology choice, such as architecture, APIs, infrastructure, stacks, tools, etc.
Strategically discover, plan, retain and acquire the required skills to build an agile, autonomously delivering organization of highly professional development teams
Guide and support a consistent architecture vision throughout all product by establishing standard methodologies, design patterns and expressive terminology that conveys the intentions of that vision
Establish and support risk management for the software architecture together with internal partners
Partner across multiple operating segments including application development and Cybersecurity to realize the vision
Qualifications
Education:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree required in IT, Engineering or equivalent field (such as Science, Software Engineering, or Medical Technology); advanced or Master’s degree preferred
Experience and Skills:
Required:
Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience
Systems Engineering experience including executing in an Agile software development methodology and delivering software projects utilizing Design Controls
Experience collecting and documenting requirements, leading risk management and failure mode analysis (FMEA) and crafting and executing verification strategies
Ability to handle the low-level details of a project while understanding the bigger picture of the Digital Surgery strategy
Self-motivated with the ability to define, shape, and drive projects to completion while effectively collaborating strategically
Proven experience in the following solution areas: web technologies and building enterprise architecture roadmaps, designing, integrating, and handling complex infrastructure solutions, Middle Layer and API-based architecture, and/or major cloud players
Communicate easily with tech and non-tech teams, individuals, and managers about your technology vision and how this adds new value for them
Preferred:
Experience working and excelling in a highly matrixed environment
Proficient in conceptualizing the domains of software products technology-agnostic, using model-driven approaches and state-of-the-art tools
Continuously delivered, operated, and maintained digital products to end-customers and matured them based on data
Other:
- Requires up to 15% travel, domestic and international
