Oncology Nursing Society Lead Software Developer in South Bend, Indiana

As a Lead Software Developer, you will focus on helping the team with the development of solutions which will include web-applications, backend services, and other serverless and cloud-based technologies in Microsoft Azure. You will use your technical expertise to form the technical foundation that will guide the organization for years to come. You will also need to have excellent problem-solving abilities, communication skills, a strong work ethic, and be a team player above all else. We're looking for a self-starter who is equally comfortable enhancing existing projects along with working on greenfield development projects.  

Remote opportunity - This is a full-time remote (work from home) position. Occasional travel to the ONS Headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA throughout the year will be required.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Be a team player and supportive of other team members with no ego.

  • Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, software developers, and stakeholders throughout the business to solve problems, design solutions, provide technical expertise, and strategic technical vision.

  • Assist the Software Development Manager with leading the internal software development team and directing work to offshore contract development support.

  • Create new and modify existing custom applications using development frameworks (such as MVC and Angular), while adhering to Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, Pair Programming).

  • Analyze, architect, and design application integrations, namely through REST-based web services. Implement integration workflows using Azure Services like Logic Apps, Function Apps, and Service Bus.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues and documents solutions in a knowledgebase.

  • Design and implement database changes, including, but not limited to, schema modifications, stored procedures, and indexes.

  • Manage and evaluate testing and quality assurance, including the development of formal test plans.

  • Develop ad hoc reports as required by the application or as requested by users and ensures that the reports produced are accurate and timely.

  • Stay abreast of current technologies and makes recommendations for implementation with ONS projects.

  • Train new employees on applications and ONS procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related degree required; minimum of 7-10 years related experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 5-7 years of experience developing applications in C#; developing with JavaScript frameworks (Angular, Ember, etc.) working with relational databases, experience working with integration platforms such as BizTalk, Informatica, or MuleSoft.

  • 3-5 years working Cloud based technologies (Microsoft Azure Functions, App Services, Logic Apps, and API Management, etc.) and working with distributed version control systems (Azure DevOps, Github) paired with automation tools for build, testing, and release (Azure DevOps, TeamCity, Octopus Deploy).

  • 1-3 years of experience with HTML5 and CSS along with open-source CMSs such as Drupal or WordPress is a plus.

  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) or Microsoft Azure certifications (MCSA, MCSE, or MCSD) is a plus.
