Reid Health Systems Analyst I in Richmond, Indiana

The PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems) System Analyst provides analysis, installation, application support, hardware support, and end-user training for PACS as part of the overall hospital network of integrated computer systems. The incumbent must be able to provide assistance to enterprise departments, staff, physicians, and students with system application issues and serve as the technical coordinator between the departments and our multiple 3rd party vendors. This position is also responsible for the Radiation Oncology computer related systems.

  • Works with the PACS Administrator for the PACS and Radiation Oncology systems.

  • As a backup to the existing Radiology Supervisors merges unspecified or “broken” exams.

  • Performs Quality Assurance for the Radiology PACS system.

  • Documents and manages downtime procedures and training.

  • Insures compliance with all federal and state regulations.

  • Follows radiation safety policies and guidelines taking responsibility for personal radiation safety and exposure monitoring.

  • Works closely with our Epic Certified Analysts for assigned applications.

  • Provides technical subject matter expertise and business process knowledge to project teams analyzing systemic or process issues within assigned areas.

  • Provides input on alternative solutions ensuring project team is fully educated on required effort, technical constraints, and impacts to existing system stability.

  • Assists departments / project teams in defining requirements for new systems.

  • Assists project manager in development of project plans focusing on technical work requirements and effort.

  • Participates in vendor selection process including demonstrations and functional comparison activities.

  • Completes appropriate departmental pre-purchase checklists and documentation.

  • Provides input into contract / statement of work for new systems / functionality in supported areas.

  • Provides input to design team in development of updated process diagrams, screen layouts, and any other elements of the design as defined by the project team.

  • Writes design specifications.

  • Completes system build / development tasks based on design specifications.

  • Completes unit testing of system components validating accuracy of build as defined by specifications.

  • Participates in testing using test scripts to validate business processes.

  • Participates in development and validation of training material.

  • Participates in training sessions ensuring appropriate knowledge transfer to end users.

  • Participates in go-live events providing support, training, and troubleshooting assistance to deployment team.

  • Provides technical support to system end users functioning as the primary resource for managing and resolving system issues.

  • Maintains software for assigned systems at supportable levels and communicate available updates and enhancements to end users.

  • Monitors incident tickets and provides timely resolution of same.

  • Maintains detailed system documentation reflecting system architecture, security, and other requirements as defined in documentation templates.

  • Leads analysis of current state.

  • Develops alternative solutions and lead teams through analysis.

  • Develops project plans for small to medium implementations / upgrades.

  • Participates with design teams ensuring all business processes are addressed within specifications.

  • Develops comprehensive test plans that cover organizational business processes affected by implementation.

  • Coordinates cross-functional integrated testing managing schedules, organizing staff, and tracking issues.

  • Participates in change management activities for assigned systems.

  • Coordinates optimization activities proactively identifying improvements that allow end users to function more effectively.

  • Coordinates resolution of issues requiring cross-functional teams for resolution.

  • Communicates successfully at all levels of the organization.

  • Functions independently executing assignments with minimal oversight.

  • Participates in implementations having high complexity / organizational visibility.

  • Keeps abreast of current industry developments and trends.

  • Advises supervisor of progress on projects and any major issues.

  • Understands the Quality Assurance and Improvement Plan and participates in department activities as requested.

  • Perform other assignments as specified by supervisor.

Education/Experience Required: Two to three years’ experience in the Radiology Department with emphasis on PACS Technology.

Education/Experience Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in related field.

  • Considers the whole patient including safety, comfort, age of patient, spiritual, cultural and religious preferences, emotional needs/barriers, desire and motivation, physical and cognitive limitations, and language barriers in the implementation of care.

  • Is familiar with digital imaging technology.

  • Has a thorough understanding of Information Services technology and a good working knowledge of recent developments in software systems, programming languages, utility software, report writers and query languages, relational databases, networking, and computer equipment.

  • Good understanding of the Epic system and integration to related systems.

  • Able to gather and document business and information systems requirements for hospital departments and provide the formal analysis and design for recommended solutions.

  • Must be able to demonstrate through testing or explanation the skills, knowledge, and ability to handle a large volume of changes and adjustments for the hospital technology environment.

  • Demonstrate through testing or explanation the skills and knowledge required to serve as a Project Leader for the development and/or installation of new computer systems and software applications.

  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and meet project timelines with specific deliverables.

  • Has ability to handle confrontation with appropriate grace, professionalism, cordiality, and firmness, and manage/resolve disputes appropriately.

  • Handles a large volume of changes and adjustments for the hospital environment.

  • Is conscientious, accurate, and capable of reacting logically to unusual or stressful situations and exercise good judgment skills.

  • Proficient with the MS Office Professional Family Suite; Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio and Power Point.
