Tyson Foods Machine Operator 1st – Full-Time – Portland, IN 47371 in Portland, Indiana

Top pay for this position is $ 16.85/hr., with starting pay at $14.10/hr., with a pay increase to $14.70/hr. at 3 months and top reached at 6 months.

This facility operates five days a week with potential for overtime and produces Tacos and Tortillas.


The Utility Machine Operator is responsible for filling in for vacation/absenteeism and must be able to perform all jobs and operate all machines in the department.


  • Responsible for operating machinery, understanding specs of the product being ran, documenting both on paper and electronically machine setting, weights and other data as needed

  • Must be able to assemble, disassemble and clean equipment when needed and communicate issues to lead and supervisor

  • Keeps a legible accurate record as required including entering data as needed into a computer-based system

  • Perform any other work as assigned by supervisor

  • Comply with all safety, food safety, GMP and SQF Requirements

  • Must perform all positions of rotation, if applicable


  • Ability to flex/grip with wrists/hands

  • Walking, bending, standing and lifting of up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis

  • Must be able to operate a Power Industrial Truck

  • Use and read scales and thermometers

  • Ability to perform basic math functions (adding, subtracting, multiplying, etc.) with use of calculator

Must have a minimum of 6 months of operator experience.

Must have 1 year continuous work history with a single employer in the past 3 years to be considered.

Must not have been terminated from a previous employer for attendance or job abandonment.

Must not have been employed by Tyson Foods to be eligible for hire.

Must be available to work overtime and weekends.
