International Paper Production Worker in MUNSTER, Indiana

Production Worker (3rd Shift) – Multiple Positions

The International Paper, Munster, IN SpaceKraft Plant is accepting applications for multiple full-time Production Worker positions to staff the newly added 3rd shift at the plant. Applicants may be considered for any of the openings within the 3rd shift production crew.

The Munster SpaceKraft plant is located at 9200 Calumet Ave, Suite NW11, Munster, IN 46321.

INTRODUCTION:

As an essential business, International Paper is a Fortune 500 company and global leader in the packaging and paper industries. International Paper’s SpaceKraft business produces liquid bulk packaging solutions, specifically flexible packaging (liners), corrugated packaging, and injection molding.

We are looking for motivated individuals who are capable of performing a multitude of functions in a flexible, fast-paced production environment. JOB DUTIES:

Primary duties of a Production Worker in any position include, but are not limited to:

  • Following all safety rules and practices, including the lockout/tagout program on each piece of machinery they are qualified to operate;

  • Operating production machinery;

  • Operating touch screen controls to monitor the production process, and interfacing with a computer to enter data into various software platforms (such as work orders or other plant metrics);

  • Reading factory work orders, product spec sheets, and other documents to learn customer requirements;

  • Consistent quality and count inspection of a product, which includes identifying and segregating nonconforming (reject/scrap) products and materials, and documenting and reporting all quality assurance checks as instructed;

  • Safely operating a forklift to load/unload production lines, to transport and stage materials as needed (pallets, endclosures, PVA), or to assist with shipping as needed;

  • Accurately completing time sheets, reports, lists, and other records;

  • Regularly perform scheduled operator preventative maintenance and general housekeeping responsibilities;

Additional duties specific to each of the different positions within the 3rd shift production crew will be subsequently reviewed with each candidate later in the hiring and onboarding process, upon successful placement into their respective position assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • High school degree or GED (or equivalent experience) preferred;

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred;

  • Prior experience in the corrugated manufacturing industry or food manufacturing industry highly preferred

  • Stable work history and good attendance record;

  • Must be willing to work a five day work-week shift schedule on 3rd shift, as well as daily and weekend overtime as required (sometimes with short notice);

We are looking for the following knowledge, skills, and abilities in a successful candidate:

  • Proven track record on safety and quality;

  • Solid mechanical aptitude;

  • Attention to detail and a focus on producing quality product;

  • The ability to work with others in a team environment with minimal supervision;

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions;

  • Willingness to learn, including cross-training and filling in other positions as needed;

  • Professional attitude and good communication skills

COMPENSATION:

Wages range from $17.23/hour (entry-level) to $20.92/hour, depending on the position candidates are hired into. A shift differential is provided to 3rd shift workers. Your compensation also includes an excellent benefits package that includes medical, dental, disability, paid vacation as and 401(k) and retirement savings plans.
