Within Stanley Engineered Fastening automotive division, an opening is currently available for Punch press setup/operator at our Montpelier, In plant.Position SummaryUnder general supervision an according to established policy and procedures, set-up and operate various sizes and types of machines automatically shaping parts to blueprint specifications and set-up charts. Complies with all safety rules. Maintain clean equipment.Essential Job Functions * Operator punch press * Reads measuring equipment: micrometers, calipers and such * Performs adjustment and replacement to maintain a quality product * Complete all die set ups in press. * Load steel, moves scrap and finished parts from machinery * Operates PIV to deliver tubs and raw material to machinery * Utilize crane to move steel throughout department * Operates die cart to load/unload and transport dies * Maintain housekeeping standards * Ability to work overtime as needed * Any other duties as assigned by supervisorEssential Skills and Experience * High School Diploma or GED preferred * General mechanical knowledge and ability * Drive and operate forklift * Operate overhead cranes * Read and understand blueprintsCompetencies (5-10 Critical Areas of Understanding/Practice for the role) * Basic mathematical understanding and ability (add, subtract, divide units of measurement) * Common sense understanding to carry out work instructions * Good communication skills, verbal and written * Able to write simple sentence to provide information * Basic computer knowledge and ability to find information and enter data * Anaytical skills necessary to evaluate and solve die and press problems to run quality partsPhysical Demands * Walking, standing and moving for 8 hour shift * Use of hands, arms and fingers regularly, pushing and pulling regularly * Bending, reaching and climbing occasionally * Use of eyes for visual inspection of parts * Lifting heavy material up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 80 pounds, assisted lift for weight over 35lbsPersonal Protective Equipment * Hearing protection * Safety Glasses * Gloves when handling steel and banding * Safety shoes slip resistant and safety toe * Hard hat when operating crane * Face Shield when blowing out equipment * Other additional PPE may be required when operating machinery or using chemicals.Working ConditionsInside production facility, temperature fluctuates dependant on season. Noise levels require hearing protection. Working around powered industrial vehicles. Production floor can become slippery with oil.
