H and R Industrial Tear Down-Assembly Technician in Kokomo, Indiana

Basic Function:Operate a variety of tools to complete tear down of old gearboxes to operating specifications. Set-up, tear down and inspect gearboxes, when necessary.iMajor Responsibilities:List job responsibilities in order of priorityTear down of gearbox components to operating specifications.Setup of assembled gearbox and check for leaks or imperfections.Check gearbox housing with serial number, id number and tolerances.Disassembles gears, bearings and other machined parts.Be able to use I.D. and O.D. mikes, height gauges, torque wrenches, and calculate shims for bearings.At times, required to work with engineering in the assembly and modification of gearboxes.Responsible for quality and sign-off of gearbox assembliesLift, position and transport work piece with a hoist and forklift.Keep records of gearboxes, inspections, serial numbers, evaluations, locations, etc.Maintain equipment in good working condition.Report on issues, malfunctions or defective parts.Demonstrate personal leadership; actively participate in or lead problem solving and continuous improvement efforts.Have regular and timely attendance.Work independently; assist and train all new hires and less experienced inspectors.Maintain plant standards in areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost, 5S, housekeeping, teamwork and attendance.Demonstrate flexibility when confronted with high stress or emergency situations, priority changes, or new assignments.Recommend improvements for area product and processes.Interact professionally when interacting with customers and employees.Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Listen for alarms and monitor equipment to ensure proper functioning.Seeing visually monitor machine and product to ensure proper mechanics and quality are maintained and identify problems; specifically paying attention to detail.Equipment load, unload, move, stack and stage product and materials using forklift; use of overhead crane; maintain the facilitys equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion. Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.Work Environment:Machine shop environment; may be occasionally exposed to moving equipment and mechanical parts in motion; risk of shock and other hazards associated with a manufacturing environment such as overhead cranes, welding, machining, painting, etc.Hazardous conditions include moving parts, potential electrical shock and slick floors.PPE including safety glasses, protective toed shoes and ear plugs (where required) are required on shop floor per policy.
