The Professional Maintenance Specialist (PMS) ensures maintenance procedures and processes are well defined, understood and practiced by the skilled trades. The Professional Maintenance Specialist possesses a high level of technical understanding of their specific technology. The PMS ensures established standardized maintenance procedures are accurate and enable maintenance of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including Mean Time Between Failure, Mean Time to Repair, Mean Time to Replace and Overall Equipment Efficiency (MTBF, MTTR, MTTr and OEE). The PMS is responsible for all standard maintenance procedures (SMPs) related to time based maintenance (TBM), and MTBF of the components and equipment in their assigned technology and/or area. The PMS ensures all requirements to return equipment to basic conditions and/or maintain basic conditions of their equipment/technology are met. The PMS addresses throughput, run to run, and downtime related issues with equipment in a production environment. The PMS coordinates activities according to World Class Manufacturing (WCM) standards (particularly the Autonomous and Professional Maintenance Pillar activities) while impacting the overall equipment effectiveness. Possess a general understanding of the Cost Deployment Pillar. Oversee costs related to their designated equipment/technology. Identify areas of waste and losses related to the designated equipment/technology through the appropriate and applicable CD Matrices. Actively support WCM methodology, through the use of Kaizens, aligned to the Kaizen targets based on Losses and Targets. Track Kaizens to closure through PDCA process. Communicate with Production Supervisors, Process Product Specialists (PPSs), Skilled Trades personnel, Process Improvement Manager (PIM), Professional Maintenance Leaders (PMLs), and Professional Maintenance Manager (PMM) to receive and provide feedback on emerging issues and important information through all appropriate communication tools.

Good teamwork orientation; Team includes the equipment manufacturers, Manufacturing Engineering, PML and PMM, Skilled Trades, machine operators and any direct reports. Must have sense of initiative and responsibility. Have an ability to work and to learn under pressure. Can Coach, train and develop Skilled Trades Personnel and others on their designated technology. Attend and actively participate in training as directed or required based on current or future plant initiatives.
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of 3 years of industrial automation experience with project management experience
Ability to work any shift and overtime as required
Excellent organization, written and oral communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with various levels of employees within all areas of the Plant from hourly represented employees to Senior Leadership as
Ability to build effective business relationships with plant leadership and customers
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Demonstrated troubleshooting problem solving experience
Goal oriented self-starter with ability to lead teams
Ability to coach/mentor/develop skilled trade employees
Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Bachelor’s degree in technical/engineering field
Experience in continuous improvement systems and lean manufacturing
Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor/develop team members
Previous experience working in a union environment
Green Belt/ Red X/ Six Sigma Training
Experience with: controls, robotics, drives and system level communication systems, sealing systems, glass cell systems, various conveyance systems, welding – all types, paint process and associated systems, vision systems and sensors use and application.
Experience in automotive / OEM body, paint, stamping press automation or general assembly.
Familiar with World Class Manufacturing pillar methodology and implementation
