Sirius Computer Solutions Sr. Solutions Specialist - Data Security in Indianapolis, Indiana
The Sr. Solutions Specialist - Data Security is knowledgeable about industry best practices and is capable of assisting Customers with Data Security strategies to ensure regulatory compliance. This role is responsible for delivering technical solutions against a defined Statement of Work (either remotely or onsite) to meet Customer’s business needs. This individual will work actively with our Customers to understand their business requirements and to design, configure, test, train and document the Data Security solution Sirius provides. This position also provides technical pre-sales support to assess the tasks required to deliver the final solution, estimate the effort, and provide input to the final Statement of Work. . This role reports directly to a Security Practice Lead or Manager in our Information Security Services practice and may work out of a home office when not at customer sites.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Functions as the technical architect and primary implementer for all Data Security solutions based on industry best practices. Installs and configures software solutions to meet the Statement of Work and business requirements.
Determines requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements, researching technical security standards, conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments, studying new/existing architecture & platforms and identifying integration issues.
Works with Customers’ systems or applications teams to understand requirements and outline system architecture and design.
Reviews and understands all assigned Statement of Work (SOW) obligations prior to services delivery.
Assists the Project Manager with creating a defined project schedule (work breakdown structure) to deliver scope as outlined in the Statement of Work.
Works with the Sirius Project Manager and Sirius Sales Team as well as Customer’s application teams, developers and other project stakeholders to ensure Data Security solutions are installed, configured in a standard manner, and are compliant.
Delivers against the project schedule and works with the Project Manager and Customer teams to identify and mitigate risks to scope, schedule or budget.
Identifies Customer technical hurdles and works to overcome any challenges using available resources.
Consults with Customers and internal project team members on project technical status of projects and provides clear and documented status updates to Management and Project team(s).
Conducts Unit Testing
Resolves issues discovered during System/Integration Testing, and User Acceptance Testing.
Documents completed solution installation, and configuration work for the Customer.
Maintains technical specifications.
Educates the Customer’s staff during the project implementation to ensure effective turnover. Conducts an informal knowledge transfer session with Customer on utilizing the system to increase proficiency and ensure maximum results are achieved.
Responds to functional and technical questions and communications in a timely manner.
Identifies opportunities for add-on business during the implementation, cultivates relationships to drive new business opportunities.
Works on multiple projects at a time of various sizes with various demands.
Works in a virtual team environment where other team members and Customers are scattered across the United States and in different time zones.
Educates internal Sales staff and Solution Architects on Data Security solutions and industry trends.
Analyzes emerging technology trends with security vendors and subject matter experts, analyzes compliance with regulations.
Will shape the emerging model of the Data Security practice. Contribute content and advice to expand the Data Security Practice offering.
Engages in professional development to maintain continued growth in professional skills and knowledge.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
At least seven (7) + years’ experience in enterprise IT/security environment, to include at least five (5) years experience with database security tool sets and processes (database activity monitoring and encryption) experience, including any/all of the following software solutions: Imperva Data Security, Thales Vormetric Data Security Platform, Varonis Data Security Platform, STEALTHbits, and/or IBM Security Guardium.
Other Position Requirements
Demonstrated understanding of data masking, server/file encryption standards and technologies, encryption key management and information security policies.
Basic knowledge in security industry regulations/standards (Payment Card Industry (PCI DSS), HIPAA, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and compliance frameworks (ISO 27001 and 27002, NIST, and COBIT)
Knowledge of enterprise environments including contemporary operating systems and major database platforms:
Experience in Relational Databases (ex: Oracle, Sybase, DB2, Microsoft SQL)
Demonstrated knowledge of operating system administration in MS Windows, MS Exchange, UNIX, and Linux systems, MS Active Directory
Demonstrated knowledge of TCP/IP, network topology and troubleshooting
Demonstrated knowledge of LDAP including Windows Active Directory
Demonstrated knowledge of unattended installation methods for software products
Reasonable knowledge of Web Servers such as IIS, Apache and Tomcat
Experience with database monitoring (such as security, auditing, performance, uptime, etc...)
Experience with supporting technologies that interact with databases (OS, networking, scripting, etc...)
Experience applying security controls and/or compliance mandates to database implementations
Exposure to basic developer/coding skills: Python, Java
Experience with investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical issues
Demonstrated business acumen with a proven ability to map business requirements to technical solutions.

CISSP or Security+ certification
Knowledge of mainframe (DB2 on zOS)
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and/or cloud database-as-a-service (Amazon RDS, Azure Cloud SQL)
