What You’ll Contribute:

The Scrum Master is a servant leader who enables IT development teams to

self-organize, self-manage, and deliver via effective Lean-Agile practices

in the Scaled Agile Framework. The Scrum Master supports and enforces Scrum

and quality processes, helps the team coordinate with other teams on the

Agile Release Train (ART) and can effectively track and communicate status

of

their team’s progress.

What You’ll Do:

25% Leadership

  • Exhibit the behaviors of a Lean-Agile Leader with a Lean-Agile Mindset. Help the team embrace SAFe Core Values,adopt andapply SAFe Principles, and implement SAFe practices

  • Lead ceremonies for highly productive teams of system development andtesting engineers

  • Coach teams on agile methodologies andprocesses

  • Address impediments so that the team canremain focused on achieving the objectives of the Iteration

  • Help the team manage interpersonal andcross-team conflicts, adapt to changing circumstances and identifyopportunities for growth

25% Planning

  • Support Product Owners and Product Managers togroom and prioritize an active backlog; facilitate a healthy team dynamicwithrespect to priorities and scope

  • Monitor and measure Program Predictability anduse meaningful metrics to assist in sprint and PI planning

  • Guide the team in establishing normalized estimates and help the team understand how to estimate Features andStories;help protect the team from uncontrolled expansion of work

  • Understand work flows and maintain healthybacklog in VSTS system; ensure information is reliable and accurate

  • Understand impacts that may adversely affectthe successful delivery of the business objectives

  • Facilitate preparation and readiness for ARTevents

25% Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Foster a culture of technical discipline and craftsmanship; measure and support the teams in constantly improving the quality of their deliverables

  • Maintain Scaled Agile certification and continually reference the framework to define and adopt effective andappropriate processes at the team and train levels

  • Socialize, promote and reinforce Agileguidance as determined by the Sallie Mae Agile Playbook and Scaled AgileFramework

  • Monitor and analyze team metrics, dashboardsand analytical reports to drive improvement and team behaviors

  • Be diligent about retrospectives and teamassessments, embracing opportunities to improve at every level of the teamandorganization

25% Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Team Members, Product Ownersand Product Managers to deliver amazing results that users love

  • Participate and contribute to Communities ofPractice, SoS, and other enterprise initiatives that share and advancepractical knowledge

  • Coordinate with other teams (e.g. System Team,User Experience, Architecture) and maintain open communication to and fromtheteam

  • Prepare and share meaningful and appropriateinformation to outside groups, including senior management

  • Proactively identify and manage cross-teamdependencies, risks, and impediments; effectively communicate with impactedparties and escalate immediately if objectives are not being met

Required Qualifications:

What You Bring:

  • 5 years’ experience in an Information Technology role

  • 1+ years’ experience on an Agile team, or in a project management or similar role within an agile organization

  • BS in a technical field or equivalent work experience

  • Hold or obtain SM certification within first 6 months of hiring

Ability to:

  • Lead your team(s) to deliver high quality solutions while adhering to architectural guidelines

  • Combine curiosity and persistence to unravel seemingly complex problems and get to the root problem or challenge

  • Effectively communicate and collaborate across all levels of the organization

  • Protect the team and build trust with stakeholders

  • Pay continuous attention to the strategic direction and initiatives to appropriately prioritize work

  • Be competent in using VSTS and all other tools to manage backlog and track progress

  • Demonstrate high level understanding of the Scaled Agile Framework
