Goodwill Indy Quality Assurance Inspector (2nd Shift) in Indianapolis, Indiana

POSITION SUMMARY

Test or inspect products at various stages of production to ensure compliance with internal and customer specifications. Compiles and evaluates data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.

2nd Shift Hours: 3:45 pm - 12:30 am

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrating behavior consistent with Goodwill Industries Historic Values, Basic Principles and Standards of Conduct

  • Perform inspection of in-process, finished goods, subassemblies and products to determine compliance with customer specifications, internal specifications, and regulatory and legal requirements

  • Read and interpret various documents and drawings to determine customer and/or product requirements

  • Use inspection equipment as necessary

  • Accurately record test and inspection data in accordance with ISO standards as required

  • Prepare graphs or charts and enter data into the spreadsheets for analysis

  • Approve or reject parts or assemblies and quarantine non-conforming product

  • Oversee quality sorts and rework

  • Collect, record, and determine disposition for in-process rejects and vendor defects.

  • Assist in problem solving and root cause analysis and corrective action

  • Promote ISO to hourly work force

  • Communicate quality issues to QA and Management and provide samples and data when needed

  • Participate in the continuous improvement process by providing suggestions and ideas to eliminate wastes in production

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure as well as calculate percentages.

  • Understand and interpret charts and grafts.

  • Understanding of statistical concepts is a plus but not required.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Email is used in this position.

  • Must be capable of learning company software.

  • Ability to adapt to many personalities and handle confrontation in a professional manner.

  • Performs first article inspection for new job start

  • Perform internal quality audits

  • Provide training when necessary

  • Other duties may be assigned

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of ISO or other quality system

  • Experience with Internal Quality Auditing

  • Prior trainer experience

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Must work well with others.

  • Understanding and following instructions are essential.

  • Willingness to successfully complete an ISO 9001 Internal Auditor course.
