Production Manager – Indianapolis, IN

Opportunity summary : Our Indianapolis location is looking for a Production Manager who will provide oversight and leadership to our printing operations. The key elements of this role will be to ensure the timely production of quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations, proactively manage departmental metrics that impact cost (downtime, make-readies, run speed and waste), and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.

This individual will also foster a team atmosphere, provide vision, and demonstrate support of the company’s core processes.

How you will impact WestRock:

Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production issues.

Drives improvements and cost out of business through more effective processes, elimination of non-value added or duplicate efforts, waste and other related defects in the process. .

Utilize lean six sigma tools and methodology

Identifies, documents, and drives departmental metrics for Productivity, Safety, Quality, Waste and any other metrics required by the company.

Ensures compliance to all company policies and procedures, continually participating in company LEAN manufacturing training and audits.

Identifies with and supports company leadership and company decisions.

Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.

Ensures staffing is appropriate to meet workload requirements and productivity standards.

Conducts on-time performance reviews of supervisors and employees.

Ensures direct reports have professional development plans and that those plans are executed in the time frames specified.

Leads effective shift meetings.

Daily inventory counts to ensure department maintains inventory of ink, blankets coatings, flexo ink and other supplies.

Performs other job duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

High school diploma or G.E.D. is required

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferred.

And 5 years management experience.

Foundational experience in Continuous Improvement

Green/Black Belt Certification preferred.

Lead by effectively Influencing, Engaging and Empowering others

Must pass color vision & color hue test.

Demonstrated ability to do the jobs he/she is supervising or to quickly gain a working knowledge of those jobs.

Ability to foster teamwork and motivate individual performers.

Ability to relate effectively with others at all levels of the organization

Knowledge of, or be able to learn quickly, safety rules and procedures, operating, maintenance, and technical policies and procedures.

Ability to champion and lead change within the department and facility wide.
