Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, service, set up and repairs on process instruments and related systems associated with GMP/GLP process related equipment .

To maintain electrical equipment for a safe and productive work environment. To ensure appropriate electrical services are available for long-term research studies, lab facilities, and pilot plant.

The onsite Technician position is to provide preventive maintenance, calibration, repairs and troubleshooting service for all of the process related instrumentation equipment in building. The Technician will work closely with Process Engineers and lab Chemists to differentiate between equipment and method problems in the GMP/GLP process and lab areas in the GMP development facility building that utilizes Delta V Foundation Field Bus Technology. The Technician will focus on customer service, asset utilization and enhance research scientific innovation through daily activities. Work is performed on all types of systems such as: Pressure and Temperature Transmitters, Agitator RPM controllers, Analysis Transmitters i.e. pH and DO2 Transmitters, Pressure and Temperature controllers, Delta V Foundation Field bus, Device Net, PLC controlled devices and all related data and communication equipment.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


Minimum (2) year Associate Degree in Electronics or Equivalent (2-5) Years Field Electronic equipment experience in the calibration, repair and service directly related to or on process instrumentation or a four-year apprenticeship in the electrical trade or equivalent.

Technician must be able to perform troubleshooting on loops and calibration of sensors, transmitters, controllers and actuators including repairs on control modules, component and mechanical part replacements. The person performing this role must be able to read and understand related electrical and electronic wiring schematics, laboratory equipment piping flow diagrams, understand complex technical equipment troubleshooting documents and must be able to determine the appropriate usage, set up and operate all Lilly standards test equipment including but not limited to Fluke temperature and volt ohm meters, Calibrators, Signal Generators and Oscilloscopes. The Technician must have a good understanding with the Installation/ Qualification and Validation processes and demonstrate good documentation skills and practices.


Maintain and repair electrical and electronic controls on sophisticated systems such as HVAC equipment, variable speed controllers, lighting, process systems, etc.


Must have good people skills to interact and communicate effectively to internal, external customers, share knowledge with craftsmen and peers including process, building and design engineers, and scheduler planner. This position also requires knowledge and capability to perform daily work activities with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Mgmt. Sys.) such as GMARS work order data base system, MS Outlook(email), calendar and network data base systems including word document process and spread sheet activities. Ability to work in a multi-craft atmosphere, assist other crafts as needed basis.


This position is for the day shift. Overtime and Emergency after hours work on process/electrical equipment and related systems is required at times.


Must be able perform daily maintenance activities that require extensive walking, lifting up to 40 pounds, the ability to work in high places, climb stairs and ladders up to and above 8 feet and be comfortable working on ladders, scaffolds, and using lifts. Work may also be required in confined spaces or in hot or extreme cold areas with potential exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals, dangerous processes and machinery and loud noises.
