The Salesforce Digital Marketing Product, Architecture, and Engineering team is responsible for the innovation of the Salesforce digital experience globally, leveraging best-in-class technology and systems—including Salesforce’s platform. The Digital Shared Services team within Digital Marketing, Product and Engineering is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced API Developer to help build the foundation that that drives the experiences on our corporate web presence, which is the first touchpoint our worldwide community of users has with Salesforce.

Your Impact:

  • Design, build and maintain APIs and services that are consumed by www.salesforce.com as well as other internal customers

  • Develop instrumentation and integrations necessary to interface with various personalization engines and other 3rd party tools

  • Design, implement, test, and deliver scalable, extensible, maintainable and observable products

  • Master our development process, culture, and codebase, then improve it

  • Operate effectively in the hybrid engineering model where engineers are expected to be able to design and execute the necessary work to ensure quality in their code as well as other engineers'

  • Work closely with a team of engineers, product managers and data scientists to build new features our internal customers will love, adopt and use while keeping our trusted platform stable and scalable

  • Mentor others in development technologies, tools, and processes

  • Present your designs to internal/external groups and review designs of others

  • Develop test strategies, design automation frameworks, write unit/functional tests to drive up code coverage and automation metrics

Basic Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience working on large-scale, complex applications

  • 7+ years experience developing APIs and services

  • Experience with front-end frameworks and understanding of how data from APIs are consumed by them

  • Experience documenting APIs using OpenAPI or RAML

  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of performance tuning

  • Experience building scalable services / applications on public cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, or Azure

  • Strong understanding of object oriented development concepts and MVC

  • Ability to evaluate a problem space and make a technology decision based on what’s best for the customer

  • Experience mentoring other engineers

  • Ability to take ownership of projects and multi-task

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Understanding of test driven development, and associated frameworks (Jest, Cucumber, other related test frameworks a plus)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Technology or equivalent experience

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with NodeJS / Express and TypeScript

  • Experience developing Backends for Frontends (BFF)

  • Experience with metadata management solutions such as Semaphore

  • Experience with personalization engines such as Evergage (Interaction Studio)

  • Experience with GraphQL

  • Experience with MuleSoft

  • Experience with Java / Spring Boot

  • Demonstrated thought leadership around cutting edge technologies

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Technology or equivalent experience
