PDS Tech Inc Heating Lab Technician in Indianapolis, Indiana

PDS Tech is seeking a Heating Lab Technician for an open position in Indianapolis IN

The ideal candidate will support the delivery of maintenance and/or upgrades to existing customer-owned equipment or installation of new equipment. Additional duties extend to customer training on products, services and upgraded capabilities


  • Installation, set up and instrumentation of gas furnaces and air handlers in laboratory test stands, including some complex testing.

  • Queue, run and monitor tests as directed by Engineers.

  • Use computer to collect, organize, and communicate test data with responsible Engineers.

  • Modification and fabrication of test units and test setups as directed by responsible Engineers.


  • Strong communication skills – both in person and electronic. Comfortable using email and instant messaging for regular business communications

  • Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel

  • Working knowledge of and ability to trouble-shoot HVAC systems – especially gas furnaces

  • Familiarity with and ability to use data systems, databases, and specialized lab testing software

  • Basic knowledge of engineering lab test concepts, processes, equipment and instrumentation

  • Mechanical Aptitude – use of basic hand tools in a lab environment

  • Electrical Aptitude – electrical/electronic knowledge, able to read wiring diagrams and use a Volt/Ohm meter

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities

  • Ability to comprehend and comply with EH&S practices & policies and ethics practices

  • Experience working in a team and matrix environment

  • Proven capacity to self-direct/motivate with a vision toward future goals

  • Ability to lift and move up to 35 lbs with no assistance

  • Ability to work a first-shift schedule, M-F, 40 hours per week.


  • HS Diploma/GED
