Childrens Bureau Facilities Technician - Family Support Center (Full Time) in Indianapolis, Indiana

POSITION SUMMARYThe Facilities Technician is responsible for the repairs and maintenance of all facilities within agency as directed by the Facilities Director. The position shall also be responsible for completing safety reviews and inspections of facilities. The Facilities Technician will assess and consider daily the safety of agency clients and employees and the security of agency assets.RESPONSIBILITIESFacility Maintenance (65%)Maintenance repairs involving electrical, HVAC, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair or replacement.Performing preventive building maintenance duties, touch up painting, caulking windows and doors, repairing drywall, etc.Performing routine plumbing repairs such as unstopping toilets, sinks or urinals, fixing water leaks, leaking faucets, and water fountains.Performing routine electrical repairs such as changing light bulbs or fluorescent lamps and assists in repairing ballast and light fixtures.Purchasing supplies, equipment, and materials necessary to complete projects at the direction of the Facilities DirectorAssembling and moves furniture, hang pictures and bulletin boards, moves and sets up tables and chairs.Painting interior and exterior walls.Other maintenance or repairs as neededSafety Inspections and maintenance: (20%)Conducting safety inspection reviews of all locations on a quarterly basis or as needed.Performing repairs identified on safety inspections at the time of inspection or in a timely manner.Working with each locations safety officer to ensure safety and maintenance of location is maintained.Performing related duties as assignedEquipment Management (15%)Responsible for preventive maintenance and repair of facility equipment, including but not limited to HVAC and Agency VehiclesConducting monthly review/inspections of Agency VehiclesMaintaining tool safety and ensure tools are secured on person or in tool box / bag at all times.COMPETENCIES, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIESKnowledge/Experience in the maintenance tradesBasic understanding of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentryKnowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions, including tools safetyAbility to use standard powered and non-powered toolsKnowledge of local, state and federal laws and codes pertaining to facilities.Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasksExcellent written and verbal communication skillsIntermediate computer user skills in the use of Microsoft Office softwareEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh School Diploma requiredMinimum of three years' work experience as a facilities technician preferredLICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONValid driver's license and valid insurance requiredWORKING CONDITIONSPotential for work within a 24 hour locked residential facilityAbility to lift up to 50lbs safelyMust be comfortable and able to work on ladder (6ft and above) and step laddersBending at the waist, sitting, kneeling, laying horizontally, climbing, walking, etc., as job may requireUse of power toolsSome work outsideHeavy exposure to PC and phonesWeekly, monthly and annual deadlinesTravelEqual Employment Opportunity:Children's Bureau does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, and disability
