POSITION SUMMARY:

The Laborer is responsible for maintaining and supporting the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and surrounding properties. This seasonal position will expose you to many different projects throughout the facility and offers an unmatched opportunity to be a part of the execution and operations of our events. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway plays host to the World's Largest Single-Day Sporting Event, the Indianapolis 500®.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Cleaning of concession stands, first aid stations, gift shops, hospitality spaces, and restrooms.

  • Facility preparation for events

  • Installation/removal of furniture

  • Move equipment and supplies (bike rack, pallets, product, temporary fence, etc.)

  • Move furniture and set spaces for events (chairs, tables, temporary walls, etc.)

  • Placement of dumpsters and trash cans

  • Miscellaneous painting as necessary (prepping and scraping surfaces)

  • Mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming.

  • Installation/removal of signage

  • Trash pickup (grounds and route)

  • Track Conversion (belting, tarping, and tire barriers)

  • Other duties and projects as assigned by Facilities Supervisor or Labor Shop Foreman

WORK HOURS:

  • Work hours are 7:15 am – 4:00 pm Monday through Friday, with opportunities for overtime and weekends during the event season.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Education

  • High school graduate or equivalent experience.

Skills/Experience

  • Valid driver’s license preferred.

  • Self-starter and must exhibit a positive attitude.

  • Ability to work under pressure with time constraints.

  • Ability to work with multiple teams to meet the event expectations.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The physical demands described here must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job:

  • The position requires lifting up to 50 pounds.

  • The position requires working outdoors in the elements.

  • The employee frequently is required to be active.

  • The position involves walking, bending, climbing stairs, and standing for long periods of time throughout the day.
