And our work depends on a Configuration Manager (Configuration Analyst Sr) joining our team to support Enterprise Technology services (ETS) for the United States Postal Service (USPS) activities located remotely.

You will be responsible for providing configuration management support to assigned projects.

  • Designs and establishes configuration management processes, standards, documentation, and SOPs

  • Ensure the Configuration Management SOPs are aligned to incident management, problem management, and release management SOPs

  • Ensures the integrity of builds and artifacts to support successful production releases

  • Authorizes the release of configuration changes specified by Program Management and other functional groups/workstreams

  • May act as a liaison between Program Management and other functional groups/workstreams to resolve issues regarding configuration analysis documentation

  • Determine the appropriate scope and depth of information in the CMDB; The manager sets the procedures for collecting and maintaining that information

  • Develops and maintains overall Configuration Management Plan for the program

  • Ensure an accurate Configuration Management Database (CMDB) while incorporating modernization initiatives

  • Identify CIs (i.e., hardware, software, documentation configuration items) and enter them into the CMDB

  • Collect, record, and maintain accurate information about Cis and their relationships to other Cis

  • Conduct configuration verification, auditing, and reporting activities of IT infrastructure to ensure that information contained in the CMDB is an exact representation of the Configuration Items (CIs) actually installed in the live production environment and identify unauthorized CIs

  • Provides advice, training, and guidance on configuration management practices, methods, documentation, procedures, requirements and reiterate the importance of collecting accurate CI information to staff supporting workstreams (e.g., OS, OS Engineering, Middleware, Database, Deployment, and Ops Support)

  • Develops and maintains CM tools/scripts to support and improve current application build/configure and release process and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) initiatives

  • Work closely with Third Party tools team and utilize DevSecOps principles to drive the technology release strategy, execution, and improvements from third-party software changes (i.e., software version updates, major upgrades, patches, and bug-fixes)

  • Designs a pipeline that minimizes manual involvement and leads to continuous improvements

  • Collaborates with other functional groups such as Management, Process & Control and Innovation and Improvement to implement ITIL best practices for CM processes and automation tools to increase productivity and standardization

  • May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced analysts

  • May serve as a mentor to less experienced analysts

  • May serve as team or task lead (Not a people manager)


  • BA/BS (or equivalent experience)

  • 8+ years of experience in configuration management processes, standards, documentation, and SOPs
