The Procurement Commodity Manager owns the development, alignment and execution of Commodity Strategies that align with the overall business strategies. They also maintain the relationships with Beckman Coulter Life Sciences (Bec in both diagnostics and life sciences laboratories on all seven continents. For LS) direct material suppliers and evaluates how those relationships fit into Supply Chain’s short and long term strategies. This position is responsible for the supplier performance, pricing, and effects of Commodity market changes and investigates new opportunities through improved supply chain or new suppliers.

Nature & Scope:

A proper relationship with suppliers should be maintained in order to bring in products that consistently meet or exceed Bec LS’s supplier performance goals. Ongoing changes with VAT laws, currency changes, commodity changes, and code changes require this position to protect the company’s assets in an always-changing market. Procurement Commodity Manager typically works closely internally with cross-functional team members on new product innovation projects. They also work closely with the quality, engineering, operations, and finance department to improve the company’s goals while minimizing conflicts. The position reports to the Global Sr Manager of Procurement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for procurement of Electronics/PCBA and etc . Individual will need the flexibility to support other commodities on an as-needed basis.

• Analyzes industries, supply markets and sourcing standard methodologies.

• Manage multiple projects with high flexibility of priorities changes

• Weekly Meetings leadership

• Project management

• Supplier engagement

• Leads RFQ and quote analysis, supplier auctions, evaluates vendors' capability, quality, reliability, and price competitiveness

• Negotiation

• Business award negotiations

• Year over year savings and other cost negotiations including cost control.

• DPO

• Supply Chain

• Supply agreement negotiation, implementation, and maintenance

• On-Time Delivery management with suppliers and impacted manufacturing site

• Critical issue and expedites for both quality and on-time delivery issues

• Supplier Development

• Develops and investigates new qualified sources of supply

• Conducts and leads business reviews with key suppliers.

• Supply, Inventory, and other contract negotiations

• Facilitates supplier technical reviews

• Supervises team members; prioritizes and assigns tasks to ensure that the team's resources are used effectively and that work schedules and targets are met.

• Coach less experienced team members to help them respond to inquiries accurately and promptly.

Dimensions:

Complete understanding of global supply base for specified commodities, and the cost drivers in the specific commodity. Assure BEC LS is using the best total cost supply partners in the marketplace.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Supports commodity strategy creation, company alignment, and execution

• Value management and clean sheet sourcing to generate and implement cost savings

• Design, implement, and train organization on supply chain processes

• Initiate RFQ’s for new product projects or engineering projects and award business per strategy

• Supplier on-time delivery, quality, and approval metrics

• Support related cross-functional supply chain activities

• Experience identifying, evaluating, and developing suppliers

• Special projects/ Adhoc management requests

• Support buyers and planners for inventory reductions and continuous supply of material

• GCM’s can also be a Business Process Owner

Education and Experience/Skills:

• The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Purchasing, Engineering, Operations or related field and 5 or more years of purchasing experience. CPM and/or CPIM desired; as well as plastics commodity management and/or background. Must possess highly developed negotiation, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills with shown results.
