Corteva Agriscience has an exciting and challenging opportunity in the Predictive Safety Center (PSC) within Crop Protection Regulatory Sciences for a Cellular Biologist . The selected candidate will be responsible for the implementation and performance of in vitro investigative toxicology methods to support the Discovery-phase safety assessment of new active ingredients and agricultural products. In addition, the person will contribute to the development of new predictive assays under the guidance of PSC subject matter experts. This position is located in Indianapolis, IN.

The successful candidate will serve as a cellular biologist in the screening and development of new crop protection products in Discovery Phase. Responsibilities and attributes include:

  • Conduct in vitro experiments to determine toxicologic profile of compounds with mammalian cell lines and primary cells;

  • Performs automated technical procedures including biochemical, molecular biology, and high content imaging assays;

  • Under the guidance of PSC subject matter experts, collaborates with internal cross functional teams to explore and implement new predictive toxicology approaches;

  • Operates software programs such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Manage databases and standard operating procedures (SOPs);

  • Promotes sharing of information and a team-oriented spirit of collaboration;

  • Complies with laboratory safety procedures and other study-specific regulatory requirements.



What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?

  • BS with 5+ years experience or MS degree with 2+ years experience in Biology, Biochemistry, Toxicology, Molecular Biology or related biological discipline;

  • Experience in molecular and cellular biology in vitro assay development is required;

  • Laboratory research in cell-based experiments in plate format such as 96- or 384- well assays is required;

  • Experience in automation systems for liquid handling and extraction processes is preferred;

  • Attention to detail and organizational skills;

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment – excellent communication, exchanging ideas with colleagues, sharing workload, and interacting with supervisors;

  • Keen interest in working in a dynamic, exciting industry and applying scientific information for protection of human and environmental health.
