Job Overview/Summary

Clorox DTC (direct-to-consumer) is the owned & operated e-commerce arm of Clorox where daily interactions and conversations with customers translate into high growth and continuous learnings. The agile, growing team, well-positioned in the New York, San Francisco, and D.C. areas, is made up of cross-functional professionals who launch and grow DTC wellness brands, while simultaneously mobilizing the online presence of Clorox’s well-loved and established retail brands. Functions, similar to any scaled e-commerce company, are wide and varied across R&D; operations; product/experience; marketing; creative; data science/analytics and technology/engineering.

As part of the growing DTC Data Science & Analytics Team, the Senior Database Engineer will help define information architecture and build data integration systems that can process data at scale. Responsibilities include building data models, developing database & data warehouse objects, and building ETL pipelines. The Senior Database Engineer is empowered to implement processes and standards, participate in discussions to determine the best data integration tools, and the implementation of those tools.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Design & develop database schemas, tables, views, and stored procedures.

  • Build, monitor, and maintain ETL processes and data integration pipelines with Matillion ETL.

  • Build, monitor, and maintain custom ETL processes and data integration pipelines with Python.

  • Design and update relational and dimensional data models.

  • Develop data integration documentation including Data Dictionaries and Entity Relationship (ER) diagrams.

  • Assist the Data Operations Manager in defining the overall data infrastructure & information architecture for Clorox DTC.

Key Skills, Abilities and Experience Required

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or relevant field; or 10+ years of relevant work experience.

  • 5+ years of SQL & database development experience (DDL, DML, Views, Triggers, Functions, Stored Procedures)

  • 5+ years of database management & administration

  • 5+ years of relational data modeling and data reporting

  • 2+ years of data warehouse development and dimensional data modeling

  • 5+ years of ETL & data migration experience

  • 5+ years of Python development experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other cloud technologies

  • Exposure to NoSQL databases, and JSON

  • Snowflake data warehouse experience

  • MySQL development & administration

  • Amazon Web Services (EC2, RDS, S3)

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree, College Diploma, or Equivalent (Required)
