Unilever Line Operator (Rotating Shift) - Hammond IN in Hammond, Indiana

Background & Purpose of the JobUnilever has an opening for a Line Operator at the Hammond IN facility. The purpose of this role is for the incumbent to operate and maintain production equipment in a consumer products manufacturing environment.Who You Are & What You’ll DoAt our Hammond factory, we make Dove bar soap. Below explains essential duties and responsibilities that may be included for your role:Successful operation and production on all line equipment used in packaging soap for shipment to customersPerforming quality inspection checks, troubleshooting equipment and trends, maintain logs and reportsCoordination with Manufacturing and Warehouse operationsCommunicate information about production data and equipment conditionsUse of forktruck/worksaver to move, load and unload various types of incoming and outgoing materialsOperation of the three palletizers and conveyor systems in the warehouseOperation of the slip and tie sheet dispensers and pallet dispensersStarting, stopping and operating various pieces of equipment used in soap making, finishing and chip mixing processesControl and operate equipment from the control room and in the fieldPerform minor mechanical repair and maintenance on production equipmentPerforming housekeepingMiscellaneous other tasks What You’ll Need to SucceedMinimum: High school diploma or GED required, Post high school education preferred6 months or more experience in a manufacturing environmentMust pass Indiana Employment Office Work Keys AssessmentsDemonstrated mechanical inclination and aptitudeSkilled in basic use of computers English literacy requiredAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manualsAbility to write routine production records and log sheetsAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization existsAbility to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule formMust be able to work rotating shifts and be available to work weekends and holidays in environment with regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and airborne particlesMust be able to work overtime as neededHandle toxic or caustic chemicals and must be able to wear appropriate protective equipment consistent with the chemicalOccasionally exposed to fumes, wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, heat and outside weather conditionsEmployment is subject to verification of pre-employment drug-screening, physical results and background investigation. ------------------------------------Unilever is an organization committed to diversity and inclusion to drive our business results and create a better future every day for our diverse employees, global consumers, partners, and communities.
