Alfa Laval Field Service Technician in Training - JR0006642 in Greenwood, Indiana

OBJECTIVE (broad function, scope and purpose for the position)The Field Service Technician in Training is available for 24/7 on call field service labor, trouble shooting and service training at customer locations for mechanical, electrical, and electronic components such as decanters, high speed separators or heat exchangers to ensure reliable operation, optimum performance and efficiency.This includes learning and then performing preventive maintenance, emergency and warranty repairs, commissioning of new equipment, system audits and process troubleshooting. Also includes managing travel costs and operating expenses associated with field service visits.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION (outline job duties and responsibilities):Weekly, on the job training supervised by an Alfa Laval Field Service Mentor TechnicianLearns to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment on Alfa Laval Separators, Decanters and Heat exchangersTrains to install, startup and shut down equipment in accordance to company and customer safety procedure in line with OSHA requirements.Prepares practice written service reports for work performed on each job to be evaluated by the Field Service Technician in charge of that specific job.Create job time and expense reports, job expense reports, and payroll reports as required by all field service technicians.After three to six months of training, will begin performing preventive maintained preventive maintenance or simple service calls on one product line under the direct supervision of an Alfa Laval Field Service TechnicianAfter one year, the Technician in Training will be evaluated to determine whether they have successfully completed training and can be promoted to a Field Service Technician position.ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENTS (level of functional responsibility, relationships, level of direction received, and ability to initiate work):Responsible for being on call 24/7 to go into customer locations with an experienced tech as a trainee to learn from an experienced tech in the field and provide mechanical / electrical support to the experienced tech while on a job in the field. The tech in training will be required to go on jobs that call for two technicians to act as a helper and to learn - on hand experience. The tech will report directly to the Field Service Supervisor but will need to take directions from experienced techs while in the field.KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURESTech will need to be able to show that they are absorbing what they are learning while on jobs with experienced techs by explaining what they learned in a service report after the completion of the job. Tech in Training is subject to answer test questions from a supervisor to check comprehension.
