PURPOSE: This position is responsible for the coordination, management and compliance of all safety, environmental, site security and occupational health issues associated with the Berry Global facility in Goshen, IN. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.


  • Establish and implement safety programs and procedures in accordance with corporate guidelines, as well as EPA and OSHA regulations.

  • Implement site-specific programs aimed at minimizing or preventing accidents and injuries related to unsafe acts and conditions.

  • Establish safety education and training programs for all new direct hire employees, temporary employees and contractors.

  • Function as the facility resource for all safety-related issues including, but not limited to:

  • Performing incident investigations for accidents, injuries, spills, fires and other site-related emergencies

  • Coordinating the site safety committee and first aid teams

  • Completing all OSHA and corporate safety-related reports in a timely fashion

  • Performing periodical site inspections and program audits

  • Maintaining the site Hazard Communication Program – including MSDS.

  • Coordinating actions and responses related to all site emergencies

  • Administer Forklift training program

  • Review new equipment safety needs

  • Review & approve JSA’s

  • Function as the facility resource for all environmental-related issues including, but not limited to:

  • The site Air Permit

  • Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know

  • Storm water Permit

  • Hazardous waste management

  • Function as the facility resource for all site security-related issues including, but not limited to:

  • Surveillance systems

  • Key management and access control


Bachelors Degree in Environmental, Occupational Health, Occupational Safety or equivalent course of study and three-five years experience in a manufacturing environment


Experience in:

  • Educating and training adult learners

  • Organizational leadership

  • Mentoring and Coaching

  • Conducting meetings

  • Performing incident investigations and root-cause analysis

  • Knowledge of: OSHA regulations and recordkeeping requirements Environmental programs and testing

  • Site security

  • Risk management

  • Loss Control Techniques; e.g., fire monitoring and suppression systems

  • Basic computer skills; e.g., Word, Excel & Power Point
