The Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer leads the design, build and delivery of AWS cloud / Docker platform solutions needed for hosting business-critical apps built to win in the marketplace. This hands-on technical leadership role provides direction and guidance to support tech modernization and implementation of infrastructure platforms that host microservices running in containers and in the cloud. The subject matter expert will be able to lead complex projects/initiatives for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Leads research, design, architecture and implementation of enterprise services on AWS platform utilizing IaaS / PaaS solutions – e.g. EC2, ECS, EKS, ELB, RDS, R53, S3, Lambda, API Gateway
Leads research, design, architecture and implementation of enterprise services on Docker platform utilizing orchestration technologies such as Swarm or Kubernetes
Leads Docker Swarm initiatives and partners with development teams to build pipelines and onboard new apps to the platform
Builds Infrastructure-as-Code solutions to adhere to DevOps best practices and sets standards around them, using tools such as CloudFormation, Ansible, Puppet, and Terraform
Performs site reliability engineering duties to build durable HA solutions and ensure proper instrumentation in place to improve monitoring, alerting and observability of platforms
Builds and codes platform guardrails to allow self-service frictionless delivery with appropriate safeguards in place
Develops and implements DevOps platforms (e.g. GitLab, Puppet Enterprise, Atlassian, Ansible, Jenkins, XebiaLabs) supporting infrastructure and development partners across IT
Builds solutions and provides guidance on docker registry and secure images that can be maintained and reused across IT, supporting efforts to mitigate vulnerability findings and develop appropriate promotion policies
Serves as a subject matter expert to design, administer and maintain security of various infrastructure, hosting platforms, and DevOps pipelines on premises and/or in the cloud
Carries out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines. Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.
4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelors)_Minimum Required in Information Technology
5 - 7+ Years’ experience in system design/architecture that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position. (Required)
Proven experience designing / deploying virtual infrastructure using AWS services (e.g. EC2, ECS, ELB, RDS, EFS, EBS, Route53 & S3 or comparable virtualization / Cloud experience)
Proven experience designing, building and automating VPC solutions across all networking components (e.g. direct connect, VPN, peering, private link, transit gateway)
Proven experience building monitoring solutions for business-critical apps, leveraging CloudWatch, Splunk, AppDynamics, ServiceNow
Proven experience building platform / pipeline guardrails in code with iterative improvements
Experience with AWS Landing Zone and Account Vending Machine to support micro account strategy for IT workloads
Proven design / implementation experience: Docker CE and EE Swarm (Kubernetes)
Experience Integrating ELB with ECS container services via Auto Scaling Groups and LaunchConfig
Agile Mindset; awareness/understanding of Agile methodologies
Experience working in a DevOps environment
Experience delivering projects via Agile methodologies
AWS Container Services ECS (or EKS)
AWS CloudFormation (YAML and/or JSON)
Demonstrated Python/Shell/PowerShell experience strongly preferred
Puppet Certified Professional (Preferred)
CI/CD Gitlab/Jenkins/Bamboo (Preferred)
