Element Materials Technology Project Manager - LIMS in Fort Wayne, Indiana
Element has an opportunity for a Project Manager - LIMS to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, this position will be located in Fort Wayne and will focus on NorLIMS implementations in the US. the qualifited LIMS Coordinator will help with training on NorLIMS and implementing new features.
Closely involved with the use and training of database systems in the lab to capture and report data
Accountable for the implementation of laboratory information management system (LIMS) in the facility and training of all employees using the database
Possess the ability to understand the use of LIMS in the laboratory from a user perspective and possessing effective communication and training skills
Frontline support for user questions and issues
The LIMS coordinator will evaluate and solve the issue where possible or engage IT for advice/fix
Working with Operation Excellence team and LIMS development team to plan changes
Be an advocate and ombudsman for various stakeholders and users to ensure changes don’t “leave anyone behind”
Determine an implementation and training plan for LIMS changes
Suggest ideas for improvements to LIMS applications and/or Workflows
Work to create uniform LIMS operating procedures across labs, and work with Development team to remove barriers to uniformity
Identify LIMS pain points and inefficiencies, triage them and bring them to the development team’s attention
Testing of changes
Regression testing when needed
Determine LIMS best practices, and plan an implementation and training plan for those practices
Be an expert on methods, calculations and services – be able to create methods and services from scratch and train others to do so
Create simple business rules to automate checks
Curate LIMS Configuration data, and work with stakeholders to create plans to deprecate, change or merge data as necessary for maximal efficiency
Help plan priorities of LIMS projects
Curate LIMS documentation
Regular follow up with client laboratories and groups to ensure LIMS procedures are being followed
Spearhead the creation of Excel based e-files and some database files in conjunction with development team if required
Training key members of the lab to create simple Excel EDDs
Skills / Qualifications
Bachelors of Science degree or diploma in Science from technical college preferred, along with 5 years experience in a laboratory setting with evidence of progressive responsibilities
Detail OrientedSelf Motivated
Communication, written and verbal
Awareness and high-level knowledge of good laboratory practices, invoicing and client service functions
Ability to delegate and track progress of delegated tasks
Experience with sample driven laboratory workflows
Experience with LIMS systems.
Familiarity with Visual Basic macros is an asset
Familiarity with Lab Information Systems or similar database applications
Highly adaptable to understand the many different processes involved in receipt, analysis and reporting of data
