BAE Systems Operations Leader - 2nd shift in Fort Wayne, Indiana

Job Description

  • DELIVERY:

  • Maintain smooth flow of delivery according to predetermined metrics and parameters.

  • Operate as 1 st level escalation for all issues identified that may be hindering the smooth flow of delivery

  • Ensure that shift handovers are conducted effectively

  • Monitor, control, and report on overtime, shift preferences, etc.

  • Support and maintain effective communication within, to and from Operational teams

  • Monitor and maintain inventory control at agreed upon targets

  • Ensure team members understand roles and responsibilities

  • TEAM LEADERSHIP:

  • Support team members to execute effectively within their team toachieve objectives

  • Coach, mentor and train team members to enable them to successfullymeet expectations and accountabilities

  • Monitor and review team and individual performance

  • Drive continuous improvement within the teams

  • Drive collaboration between teams

  • Address employee issues in the teams (1st level escalation)

  • Drive a culture of Inspiration at shop floor level

  • COST:

  • Drive reductions in MAUC, overhead, free cash flow

  • QUALITY:

  • Proactively support quality initiatives relating to design and processcompliance and improvement.

  • Reduce defects

  • SAFETY:

  • Ensure compliance to all aspects of Safety

  • Proactively maintain a safe working environment

  • Comply with audits

Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship or Permanent Resident status.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Ability to lead in a cross-functional team environment, with a customer-focused approach, and an aptitude for continuous improvement

  • Demonstrated success in implementing lean manufacturing and supply chain initiatives

  • Record of success in supporting increasing demand while continuing to meet key performance indicators

  • Strong diplomatic, communication, presentation and negotiation skills

  • Ability to provide strategic contributions while successfully executing on tactical objectives

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Operations / Supply Chain experience

  • Experience with AS9145 construct

  • Proficiency in office technologies including MS Word, Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint; Visio

  • Proficiency with continuous process improvement methodologies and tools; strong group facilitation skills

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing
