Our BAE Systems Fort Wayne, Indiana site is part of the Electronic Systems Sector supporting the Controls and Avionics Solutions (CAS) segment providing flight and mission-critical products to commercial and military customers around the world.-?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /->

We are currently accepting applicants to support our production needs on 2nd and 3rd shift. The Operations Associate II positions are Union represented (IUE-CWA) and have a current starting wage of $14.39 an hour and a night shift differential of $0.65 an hour for worked performed on 2nd and 3rd shift.The current new hire wage progression provides a $0.50 increase at 6 months of service and another $0.50 increase at 12 months of service.

The Operations Associate II will perform a variety of duties to assemble, modify, rework, coat, pot, paint, solder, inspect, test, pack, ship, etc., components, cables, electronic and microelectronic (hybrids) assemblies, controls and other items utilizing all necessary support equipment.

Equipment to be used includes, but is not limited to; jigs, fixtures, assembly machines (automated and manual), automated test equipment (including Genrad, Ditmco, functional test stands, etc.), soldering equipment, hand and power tools, component prep equipment, packing equipment, inspection instruments, gages, cleaning equipment, coating and potting equipment, material handling devices, meters, mixing and measuring devices, and other devices related to the manufacture of electronic and mechanical assemblies.Perform related duties including material movement while maintaining a safe clean work area.

Duties required relative to receipt, unpacking, storing, accumulating, prep for assembly, kitting,

packing and shipping materials, tools, parts, assemblies and equipment.

Perform duties related to proper material movement and handling including maintaining material

staging areas, floor stock areas, in-process storage kanbans, tracking and controlling parts, etc.

Perform pre-assembly operations, such as color-coding, lead forming/preparation, lead and wire

pretinning, etc.

Operate automated/computerized material handling, assembly, soldering, inspection and control

equipment.

Perform in process and final audits/inspections on mechanical/electrical/electronic components and

assemblies to assure required quality levels and correct defects as required by applicable work

instructions.

Assemble, solder, modify and rework various wires, components, and electronic and

microelectronic circuitry.

Evaluate solder connections and assemblies vs applicable quality standards.

Set up and conduct all types of automated production electrical and electronic pre-acceptance and

acceptance test to determine performance against design requirements (automation will result in

the operation of more than one test stand simultaneously).

Perform material and components protection/encapsulation operations such as potting,

impregnating, coating and painting.

Perform marking operations utilizing various manual and automated methods.

Maintain accurate and timely records as required, both electronic and manual, performing

elementary mathematical calculations and plotting graphs as required.

Perform tasks as required utilizing both verbal and written work instructions.

Required Skills and Education

Ability to work 2 nd or 3 rd shift

Successful completion of current standard solder certification

Ability to read, comprehend and apply written work instructions

Ability to work in a collaborative, team oriented environment

Good verbal and written communication skills

Good manual dexterity and eye/hand/finger coordination for handling small electronic and mechanical

components and wiring assemblies

Long periods of sitting and or standing

Visual acuity or correctable vision, color vision

Solid elementary math skills

Willingness to learn new tasks

Information entry via a computer

Lifting up to 50 pounds
