Job Opening:i Machining SupervisorApply Online:i SUMMARYi:The Machining Supervisor is responsible for monitoring and maintaining Machining Cell productivity to ensure on-time delivery of PHD products to the customer. He/she interacts with Machining cell employees and process engineers, documents disciplinary and attendance events, coordinates direct reportsi training, and supports operational initiatives.Reporting to the Machining Supervisor are machining employees, which may include union and non-union hourly employees.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY?iGood active listening skills?iGood problem-solving skills?iExcellent time management skills?iGood organizational and planning skills?iGood written and verbal skills?iKnowledge of metal shop work?iMust be detail oriented?iMust be able to work effectively with little or no supervision?iMust have the ability to write and read complex spreadsheets?iMust have the ability to read blueprints?iKnowledge of safety measures pertinent to each job assignment?iPossess a general understanding of cost justification and cellular manufacturing?iPossess a general understanding of manufacturing information systems and product engineeringCRITICAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONSi:?iHigh School diploma required.?iCertification from accredited technical school, Associateis degree in CNC programming or a manufacturing-related field, or equivalent work experience is preferred.?iRequires 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations, of which 3-5 years have been in CNC machining and programming at the operation or plant management level.?iKnowledge of electronics and machine tools.?iWilling to participate in continuing education to learn new techniques as they emerge.Key Accountabilities:40% Manage and develop machining department workforce.30% Provide accurate and timely deliveries as measured in performance of On-Time Deliveries, quality discrepancies and returned goods orders. 20% Implement continuous improvement of processes and systems to support plant goals.10% Ensure timely implementation of processes and systems to support new product introductions and custom products.WORK ENVIRONMENTi:?iTime is spent in an office and on the manufacturing floor, both of which are climate controlled?iTime is spent in front of a computer screen keyboarding and manipulating a mouse?iTroubleshooting of programming is done on the manufacturing floor around various types of machinery which include moving parts, chemicals, coolant, and by-products of material being formed?iMust be able to do shift work?iHigher level of noise on the manufacturing floor as opposed to the office setting?iOne level with concrete floors, no steps, stairs, or inclines?iRubber/foam mats are present in the machining areaPHYSICAL DEMANDSi:?iExtensive periods of sitting, standing, walking, arm and hand motion, some foot motion?iManual dexterity, rotation of wrists?iExtensive reaching near the body, above the head, and below the waist?iFrequent bending at the waist and upper body twisting?iGood visual abilityThe above statements are intended to describe the key accountabilities and significant requirements for the performance of this position.
