Element Materials Technology Test Technician in Daleville, Indiana
Element has an opportunity for a Test Technician to join our rapidly expanding team.
The technician in this role will be responsible for the review and approval of external suppliers’ part manufacturing work instructions for special processes (e.g. heat treatment, chemical processes, coating, etc.). The technician will review and understand specifications and engineering drawings, while interacting with external suppliers to resolve any issues with submitted special process work instructions. Perform all responsibilities with focus on quality, standardization, and continuous improvement. This position will work closely with the department supervisor in facilitating the assigned duties in order to meet customer turn time and requests.
In addition, the Test Technician will perform a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the mechanical testing department. The technician insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision. The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.
Review, distribute, and approve supplier data cards.
Prepares material specimens for testing
Performs tests as directed by customer specifications
At times operates under the supervision of a more senior test technician and/or a Department Manager
Interacts with customers and suppliers
Schedules internal calibration of equipment
Gathers and records test data
Constructs and maintains various test fixtures and other laboratory equipment to ensure proper working order with little supervision

Skills / Qualifications
Working knowledge of laboratory safety
HS diploma or GED certificate preferred. College or vocational school coursework welcomed
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a testing related field
Analyzes and compiles testing data from the tests performed
Understanding of special process such as NDT, welding, heat treatment, chemical processes, and coatingRead and understand technical instructions, specifications, and blueprints
Basic understanding of testing concepts
Possess computer skills
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus
Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate)
Lifting requirements: lifting <50 lbs. often and >50 lbs. on occasion
Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
Ability to lift 50+lbs periodically
