Aerotek Forklift Operator in Columbus, Indiana

Description:

The main function of the operator is to ensure the proper loading of raw materials for casting. About 70 to 80% of their time will be spent operating a sit down forklift. While operating the forklifts, employees will either be moving raw materials (scraps of aluminum to go into furnaces) or finished product (11 pound blocks of aluminum). When they are not operating the forklifts, the majority of their time will be spent doing general production type work. This could include assisting other workers with operating the furnaces, sweeping and cleaning of the plant, awareness of the dust collector operation, and other duties as assigned.

They are responsible for receiving final aluminum product in a stack and transporting the stack of material to cooling warehouse for labeling.

This is a labor intense position which may include the ability to stand or sit for long periods of time, and to lift an average of up to 50-75lbs of product.

Shift & Pay:

1st- 8am-8:10pm ($17)

3rd- 8pm-8:10am ($18)

Shift: Working 12 hour shifts, will work a rotating 2 on 2 off, 3 on 3 off schedule where they work every other weekend.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Must Haves:

  • Solid job tenure (1+ year experience in 2 most recent positions)

  • Previous experience in some type of manufacturing or physically demanding job (could be working in a steel yard, landscaping, construction, etc.)

  • Ability to lift 50-75 pounds
