Job Title: Global Director Procurement Biologics

Reports to: Vice President Global Procurement

Location: Bloomington, IN

Position Summary

The Global Director is responsible functionally for procurement for the Biologics sites globally and demonstrates a high level of leadership, vision and business acumen within the organization. This includes leading a global team of Site Procurement Leaders to execute initiatives in alignment with the Global Procurement Category teams including negotiating, contracting, onboarding suppliers and managing supplier performance for indirect, direct and capital purchases, partnering on supplier quality and commercial assurance, vendor management and relationships, International Trade Compliance, cash, merger and acquisition, New Product Introductions, purchase to pay process, talent acquisition, growth and training, to achieve and support the goals and objectives as established by the Business Unit, Global Procurement, Site and other Key Functions/Operations. Additional responsibilities include fostering an environment of continuous improvement and change management, with emphasis on maintaining a positive, energetic and safe workplace, to reliable supply and that assures a high-level of commercial competitiveness.

The Role

  • Implements global procurement strategies across a global, multi-site network on Indirect, Direct and Capital spend

  • Organizes, staffs and provides leadership to the Strategic Procurement team while being a hands-on leader and contributor within the global group to drive change and value creation

  • Supplier risk monitoring to achieve quality and commercial assurance

  • Oversight of the BU procurement transformation, data analytics and purchase to pay process to assure transactional compliance to legal, financial and ethical policies

  • Optimizes working capital through payment term, lead-time, MOQ/EOQ, and consignment stock strategies.

  • Active involvement with Business Development and Product Development to provide competitive timely quotes, NPI support and supplier innovation executing on growth projects.

  • Partner to ensure procurement savings & value is forecasted and realized in the P&L.

  • Anticipate requirements, trends, and variances; develop action plans to measure and analyze results and/or initiate corrective actions while minimizing the impact of variances.

The Candidate

  • The successful executive will have broad and progressive management experience with pharmaceutical, medical device, chemical, transportation, packaging, contract services or other relevant industry experience company. Other key characteristics include:

  • 10+ years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Development or relevant role.

  • Proven procurement leadership responsibility with demonstrated record of driving successful change & value.

  • Good technical skills to understand manufacturing processes, including basic knowledge of engineering, chemistry, and microbiology principles and practices.

  • Good working knowledge of GMP, ISO 9000, and other applicable regulatory requirements is a must.

  • BS/MS in classic sciences, pharmacy, supply chain, business or other related disciplines. MS, MBA or PhD preferred but not required.

  • Extensive knowledge of /ERP systems & relevant Procurement technology.

  • CPM and/or APICS certification a plus.

  • Black Belt or Green Belt certification a plus.
