Summary
The Finishing Production Group Leader provides leadership, coaching and communication on an individual and group basis to meet client demand and expectations. The Group Leader contributes to creating an environment where teamwork, productivity, Safety, Identity, Strength, Purity and Quality (SISPQ) are reflected in the finished product. This position reports to a Manufacturing Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (these are primary responsibilities of the role and the incumbent will perform other duties as assigned)
Production Operations Monitoring & Execution (30%)
Analyze process (and machine) downtime and efficiency information to respond to operational needs
Monitor production line performance and update visual controls
Communicate process/equipment delays to appropriate levels of management as well as subsequent shifts
Work with Sr. Production Technicians to improve line performance (uptime and efficiency)
Manage and track TOR (Time out of refrigeration) for refrigerated product
Coordinate material delivery and pick-up with Warehouse and Label Control personnel
Manage electronic inventory transactions at the time of activity completion
Coordinate with Technical Services and Engineering to process Technical and Qualification studies, respectively
Monitor machine downtime system and ensure equipment efficiency data integrity, as applicable
Monitor and ensure batch record requirements and applicable SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are being followed/executed properly
Input line data into electronic reports
Batch Record Review and Completion (20%)
Discover and correct any documentation errors that occur on shift
Ensure no documentation omissions exist and all activities are documented at the time of performance
Complete batch record review immediately following batch completion
Ensure batch record reviews allow achievement of desired first pass quality
Review batch record and batch record forms for accuracy and completeness; sign for review
Successfully complete batch record review course and qualification
Meet with subsequent shift group leader to review critical batch record information and documentation
Assist with investigations stemming from production deviations or errors (exceptions)
Talent Development and Coaching (20%)
Develop operators in their respective competencies via coaching and creating opportunities to learn/perform new responsibilities
Provide verbal and written feedback for individuals with whom you have led or worked with for performance evaluations and individual development
client demand, processing instructions and objective to team members
Set-up/Tear down/Clearance (15%)
Set-up for next shift operations
Organize and assign responsibilities for area clearances
Review and confirm comprehension of FSS (Finishing Specification Sheet) for machine and packaging operators
Ensure clearance activities meet established turnaround targets
Allocate appropriate personnel and monitor changeover times to established targets
Ensure all auxiliary equipment (i.e. bar code scanners, inkjet/laser coders, conveyors, etc) is available for production use per schedule
complete the check-weigher setup course and qualification
Continuous Improvement, Training, and Safety (15%)
Solicit feedback from operators on how we can make their job better or easier
Work with Finishing Training, Supervisors, peers, and operators to update/improve SOPs and Batch Records
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives formally (i.e. rapid improvement events, kaizens, cause mapping) and informally (i.e. daily/weekly projects)
Encourage and promote good safety practices; provide immediate feedback to staff if there is an unsafe condition/practice occurring
Immediately address any safety or training deficiencies discovered by your team or yourself; notify appropriate levels of management as necessary
Provide verbal and written feedback to Labeling, Tech Services and Packaging Development to correct design flaws or to drive equipment/personnel efficiencies through material changes

Job Requirements (Education and Experience )
High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum 2 or more years related experience preferred
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and the ability to use enterprise software (examples include: JDE, BPLM, Pilgrim, Trackwise, etc.)
Physical / Safety Requirements
Must be able to lift, push/pull, and carry up to 30 pounds
Required to stand for over 4 hours per day, including constant standing for 2 hours at a time
Duties may require overtime work, including nights and weekends
Use of hands and fingers to manipulate equipment is required
