Hill-Rom Sourcing Manager - Plastics in Batesville, Indiana

Reporting directly to the Director Global Sourcing – Plastics and Soft Goods, the Global Sourcing Manager – Plastics is responsible for leading global efforts for the various Plastics sub-categories. The ideal candidate will have strong influencing, communication and collaboration skills proven within a self-directed and flexible environment.

The role is expected to work remotely. Consideration will also be given to candidates who can work based on one of our US Hillrom locations (our global corporate headquarters in downtown Chicago, or production sites in Acton (MA), Batesville (IN), St. Paul (MN), Cary (NC), Milwaukee (WI), and Skaneateles Falls (NY).

Basic Function and Principal Responsibilities

  • Manage spend and related supply base in support of site, division, and corporate goals (Cost, Quality, Delivery, People).

  • Support standardization and rationalization targets to drive spend to key strategic partners.

  • Responsible for overseeing development and deployment of holistic categories strategy.

  • Create and manage strategic supplier partnerships to ensure continuous performance expectations are met and year over year productivity targets are achieved, by conducting proper supplier management techniques.

  • Lead key negotiations and agreements / support sites and businesses on negotiation strategies.

  • Partner with key internal stakeholders to understand requirements and drive global, value based year over year sustainable sourcing strategies to ensure quality, value-cost optimization, service performance and business continuity are developed and sustained.

  • Keep current on categories market, cost drivers and economic outlook to guide strategy.

  • Develop a multi-year category roadmap ensuring proper alignment of requirements and supply base.

  • Be a thoughtful leader, building an internal customer-focused approach, fostering a motivating environment through leadership skills.

  • Lead, manage and support activities of supplier sourcing, supplier qualification, RFI-RFP, and supplier selection. Ensure a risk-based sourcing approach is considered.

  • Monitor, track and report on savings, projects and incremental value of sourcing activities.

  • Conduct business reviews with key suppliers.

Qualifications

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Business, Engineering or Supply Chain highly desirable; Master’s in Business preferred.

  • CPM or CPSM certification (or equivalent) preferred.

  • Minimum of 7 years strategic global sourcing experience of which 4 must be in a manufacturing business environment.

  • Plastics category prior experience preferred (resins, injection molding, blow molding, tubes, rubber/silicone parts, subassembly / value added processes, tooling)

  • Sourcing in a Medical Devices or Life Sciences industry preferred

  • Experience operating within a regulatory environment preferred

  • Proven project management/execution and transformational management skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Global mindset with experience working in an international/multi-cultural matrix environment

  • Strong cross-functional leadership and coaching skills

  • Must have a balance of both strategic and operational performance

  • Experienced negotiator

  • Ability to listen, engage and influence internal and external stakeholders

  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to drive change in a global organization

  • Strong technical and commercial experience in the related categories.
